We've been on staff since 1993 and plan on being at Penn State for a long, long time. We love working with college students and helping them understand the gospel. Our favorite side benefit of working with Cru is that our four kids: Benjamin, Silas, Max and Sadie Mei, get to grow up surrounded by godly college students who can model the authentic Christian life. We love students' involvement in our kids lives. Plus they're really cool. We think you'd like them.

We also love to teach and hike and read, and think summer is the best season by far.

We graduated from PSU in 72 & 73 and have been on staff with Cru ever since, most of those years in the Midwest. We have four great kids, one of them in Heaven already. Roger enjoys racquetball, Risk, volleyball and is a major Penn State football fan. Roxanne enjoys reading, gardening, scrapbooking and biking. Our favorite date is dinner and a movie. Roger is passionate about studying and speaking on the second coming of Christ and Rox is passionate about Roger! We love college students and especially enjoy being with students when they worship.

We've been on staff since 2006 and love it here at Penn State. We met on a Summer Project with Cru while Mark was at Penn State and Kim was at the University of Oregon. We recently had our first son Cole and are expecting our second!

Aside from working with college students, Mark loves all things sports; especially Penn State football. His favorite bands are Needtobreathe, Switchfoot, and the Foo Fighters.

Kim is passionate about connecting with women and showing them their worth in Christ. She loves to run, be outdoors, and have fun adventures.

814.880.1996 (Joanna)

We met on a summer project in North Africa in 2004. We are both PSU alumni and joined Cru staff in 2006. When we joined, Joanna had already interned under the Bridges ministry for a year. We love Penn State and hope to stick around for a while.

Random things we both like...Settlers of Catan, Harry Potter, Sanctus Real, Brian Regan, School of Rock, and racquetball. We are both avid fans of 24, Lost, and The Wheel of Time. Tom really enjoys tea (Constant Comment) and studying/teaching God's Word. Joanna really enjoys scrapbooking and making wedding cakes. A great date for us is to read fictional books to each other.

610.509.5767 (Christy)

We've been married for 6 years as of April 2012. Our history at Penn State is a bit different. Christy graduated from Miami University (it's in Ohio) in 2000, has been on staff for over 10 years and with the Penn State team since the fall of 2005. Ed graduated from Penn State in 2000 and was in the workforce for over 6 years before he felt God's calling to join staff. So here we are together to do life with you guys and gals while we all walk with Jesus. We love to play games - any really. Some of our favorites are Settlers of Catan, Boggle, Catch Phrase, and anything else competitive. We are passionate about seeing God change people's lives and are so excited to be here with you.

Joel & Jenn Shibata

814.777.3782 (Joel)
814.777.3943 (Jenn)

We met in New Hampshire in 2007. Jenn had just graduated from the University of New Hampshire (UNH) and was interning with the local chapter of Cru. Joel, a Penn State Alum, was just coming off of two years on STINT to Central Asia and got a job near UNH. He started to volunteer with Cru thus placing Jenn and Joel on the same staff team and the rest, as they say, is history.

Joel loves almost any type of sport: baseball, volleyball, soccer, Frisbee, golf, etc. He also loves board games, especially strategic ones like: Settlers of Catan, Dominion, or Puerto Rico. Jenn has always had a love for animals and for years growing up worked at Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo, near her hometown of Rome, NY. She also loves to be around people, to dance, to sing and was a part of an a cappella group in college named Alabaster Blue. We both love college students and have a heart to see them understand who Jesus is and grow in their relationship with Him for a lifetime.

I just graduated in May 2011 from Penn State with a degree in Human Development and Family Studies. God has blessed me with the opportunity to stay at Penn State this year and work with all of you. Although I grew up in San Diego, I have found a second home on the East Coast... And I even like the snow!

I love the beach, bike riding, Rita's Water Ice, burritos, chips & salsa, and line dancing! I am a big fan of Penn State and Chargers football. And I love all kinds of music.

I'm excited to see how God continues to move at Penn State and to get to know many new freshmen women!

I recently graduated in 2011 from Penn state with a degree in Crime, Law, and Justice. I'm interning with staff this year because I love working with college students, and I look forward to helping them grow in Christ. I'm really excited to see what the Lord will be doing at Penn State this year.

My favorite pastimes are hanging out with my friends and roommates. I love playing all sorts of games. My favorite board game would have to be Dominion. I love playing video games (Call of Duty & World of Warcraft). I also enjoy good card games like Hearts and Spades.

My favorite bands would have to be Red, Skillet, and Flyleaf. I love contemporary Christian music all around. Go K-Love!!

I just graduated in May 2011 from Penn State with degrees in Animal Sciences and AgriBusiness Management. I joined the Penn State staff for this year because of my love to see college students know God personally and follow His will for their lives. I am pumped to see what God has in store for Penn State!

Being with friends and family is my favorite way to spend time when possible. Growing up as a country boy on a dairy farm, my remaining time is devoted to hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and mountain climbing, but music is also a big part of my life. True to my roots, I enjoy country music, but my favorite band is Third Day.

I love any kind of pickup sport, especially volleyball, basketball, or football. Few things in life can compare to rooting for PSU football or the Phillies!
